What Is a USDOT Number?
A USDOT number (United States Department of Transportation number) is a unique identifier assigned by the FMCSA to commercial motor vehicles operating in interstate commerce. Every commercial carrier that crosses state lines must have a USDOT number registered — whether they haul for hire or privately.
