Where our carrier data comes from

Every carrier profile on CarrierChk is built from public records published by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. We do not buy data, we do not collect it from carriers, and we do not add anything of our own to these pages.

What we publish

A carrier profile shows the operating and safety information a broker or shipper needs to decide whether to trust a carrier with a load:

• Company name, USDOT and MC numbers
• Operating authority status and history
• Insurance on file, including coverage and any pending cancellations
• FMCSA safety rating, inspection history and out-of-service rates
• Fleet size, driver counts and cargo types
• City and state of the carrier's registered address

What we deliberately withhold

FMCSA publishes more than we do. For carriers registered as individuals or sole proprietors, the "business" address on the record is often a home, and the "business" phone is often a personal mobile. We do not think putting that into search results is necessary for anyone to verify a carrier, so by default we do not publish:

• Cell phone numbers — for any carrier, ever
• Street addresses of sole proprietors, only their city and state
• Personal email addresses of sole proprietors
• Officer names where the carrier is an individual rather than a company

How we verify it is really you

When you request a change, we send a six-digit code to the email address already on your FMCSA record — never to an address typed into our form. That is deliberate: without it, anyone could take down a competitor's page. If your record has no email on file, we review the request by hand instead.

What we cannot do

CarrierChk is not FMCSA and has no connection to them. Removing your page here does not change your official FMCSA record, does not remove you from the FMCSA's own public search, and does not affect the many other sites that publish the same public data. If the underlying information is wrong or out of date, the fix is to file an updated MCS-150 with FMCSA — once that is processed, our data updates automatically with it.

We also cannot control how quickly search engines react. A removal takes effect on our site immediately, but Google and Bing typically take several days to several weeks to drop a page from their results.
